Antique French tramp art Crucifix with velvet

Antique French tramp art Crucifix. These pieces are really collectable due to the process of layering mostly reclaimed pieces of wood that have been carved or chiselled with turret style carving. They were often made from recycled cigar boxes or crates. 

L32cm W17.5cm D5.5cm.

This one has a lovely faded velvet background with a metal Christ. Some of the header and footer have losses (see photos) and there are a few knocks to the edges with small losses too  but it’s a really good looking piece and displays well. There’s a hook on the back for easy mounting on a wall.
