A refined and characterful pair of mid-century Japanese bottle-brush Christmas trees, dating to the 1950s–60s and retaining their original festive adornments. Each tree is composed of dense green bristles, finished with white garlands, hand-applied glitter and bright red baubles — a classic example of Japan’s celebrated post-war Christmas export craft.
They stand on gilt wooden bases, adding a warm, understated sheen. One tree features a distinctive berry cluster finial, giving the pair an appealing mismatched harmony often seen in early Japanese sets.
These trees come with oral provenance linking them to the Bletchley Museum collection, adding an intriguing layer of historical and cultural resonance. While not formally documented, this association enhances their narrative appeal and makes them particularly desirable to collectors of British social history and mid-century festive décor.
