Antique Industrial Foundry Crucible with Original Furnace Slag

A wonderfully evocative antique industrial foundry crucible, retaining substantial original furnace slag and metalworking residue from its working life.

Handcrafted from heavy refractory clay, this authentic crucible was used for melting and handling metal at high temperatures within a forge, foundry or metalworking workshop. The vessel displays decades of honest wear, with a beautifully weathered surface, remnants of its original refractory coating, heat-blackened handles and a heavily worn rim, all testifying to its industrial past.

The interior still contains a significant mass of fused slag and metalworking residue, creating a remarkable piece of industrial archaeology and providing compelling evidence of genuine workshop use.
