Antique Swedish Hand Stitched Sampler

This is a really stunning Swedish antique hand-stitched sampler, backing lined with a Swedish newspaper dated 1883.

Beautiful Scandi palette with reds and blues, and really clear message; wishing someone a happy 40th anniversary, dated  

Due to its age it has a split in the ply backing, but nothing that careful mounting wouldn’t remedy. I’ve been reluctant to tape it as the newspaper backing is absolutely fascinating. 

Found in Skåne southern Sweden originally this beauty is a wonderful example with vibrant colours and a fabulous design in great condition for its age. A rare find.
