Description

A charming original oil landscape study painted on traditional Daler artist’s board, depicting a tranquil woodland scene with mature trees, dappled sunlight and soft natural tones.

This atmospheric work was acquired as part of a collection of paintings completed by an English artist who lived and painted in Normandy, France. While the painting is unsigned, it is believed to have originated from the artist’s studio and retains both the original Daler Board for Oils label and a handwritten “15 francs” notation to the reverse, suggesting a period gallery, exhibition or studio price.

Executed with loose, confident brushwork, this plein-air style study beautifully captures the play of light beneath the trees and has a timeless decorative quality that works equally well in country house, cottage or contemporary interiors.

A wonderful opportunity to acquire an original artist’s study with genuine provenance and character.
