A handsome pair of antique solid brass push-up candlesticks dating from the late Victorian to Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910.
These elegant candlesticks feature beautifully turned baluster stems, faceted detailing and substantial octagonal bases. A particularly desirable feature is their original push-up ejector mechanism, designed to raise and release spent candle stubs from the socket. The iron push rods remain visible beneath the bases, demonstrating the traditional construction and functionality of these quality antique pieces.
Crafted from cast brass with a rich aged patina, they display the warm golden tones and character that only develop through decades of use. Their refined architectural form is reminiscent of ecclesiastical and Gothic Revival designs popular during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
A striking decorative pair for a mantelpiece, dining table, sideboard or period interior.
