Small Antique Framed Portrait of Lady Denham After Sir Peter Lely

A wonderfully atmospheric early 20th-century framed portrait of Lady Denham, after the celebrated Restoration court painter Sir Peter Lely.

The portrait bears the unusual blind-embossed inscription “Copyright of H.M. The King” and retains its fascinating old paper label to the reverse, recounting Lady Denham’s colourful and rather scandalous history at the Restoration court.

Presented in a simple dark wooden frame with lovely age and character. Its wonderfully small scale makes it perfect for adding to a gallery wall or collection of antique portraits.
