A genuine antique enamel clock beat plate dating from the late Victorian to Edwardian period, featuring Roman numeral markers, decorative scrollwork, and a finely detailed graduated beat scale.
Originally mounted within a mechanical clock case, beat plates were used to assist with setting a pendulum clock “in beat,” ensuring accurate and even pendulum movement. Today, these surviving components are sought after by clock restorers, collectors, and lovers of antique mechanical objects.
Crafted from enamel on metal, this piece retains its crisp black detailing and attractive aged patina, making it equally suitable as a restoration component or a decorative curiosity display.
