Vintage Chiltern Teddy Bear, England c.1940s–1950s

An original vintage teddy bear by Chiltern Toys, England, dating to the mid-20th century. Chiltern was one of Britain’s most established teddy bear manufacturers and is well regarded by collectors for its distinctive facial expressions and quality construction.

This example is made from mohair with stitched eyes, a stitched nose and mouth, and simple unjointed construction. The bear shows honest, even wear to the pile consistent with age and use, with no signs of over-restoration. The expression remains clear and appealing. The tag is present. A ribbon is a later addition.

Seated height approximately 21 cm, width 16 cm, depth 13 cm.

Overall condition is good vintage condition, with age-related wear throughout, as expected for a Chiltern bear of this period.
